New Phd: Norah Kwagala successfully defends her Phd thesis

On Friday, August 24, Norah Kaggwa Kwagala successfully defended her thesis entitled, “Thermally excited 630.0 nm emissions in the polar Ionosphere.” While working on her dissertation, Norah has been part of the Birkeland group working on the dynamics of asymmetric geospace.

Norah’s Phd advisor has been Prof. Kjellmar Oksavik of BCSS. The defense committee was comprised of Dr. Therese Moretto Jørgensen of BCSS and opponents Dr. Daniel Whiter, University of Southampton, England and Asst. Prof. Mykola Ivchenko, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. The leader of the defense committee was Prof. Emeritus Finn Søraas.
